PhD Program at the University of Hong Kong
Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD Studentship based in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Hong Kong.
Supervisors: Dr. Fiona Kwok Title of Project: Multi-scale Investigation of Time-Dependent Instability in Rock Masses – Modeling, Understanding and Prediction Studentship: HK$13,600 per month Start date: September 2012 onwards The student will work on the designated project in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineering and be responsible for delivering scholarly publications and presentations of his/ her research. Appointment will be in probationary terms for the first year of study. The studentship will be renewed upon satisfactory performance review and completion of required courses at the end of the first year. Eligibility: The application is open to nationals of any countries. Candidates should hold a first/ upper second class (GPA 3.5/4.0 or above) undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. A master degree in Geotechnical Engineering or some experiences in DEM would be an advantage. If applicants are not first language English speakers they should have at least IELTS 6.5/ TOEFL 90(Internet-based)/233(Computer-based)/577(Paper-based) English language proficiency scores.
