这个问题问得好，刹那间让人回答不上来。桩：基础形成的一个部分，不同的桩意义不同、概念不同、机理作用也不同。

我觉得应该说是把位移和变形传入其他承重体的一种介质

    现在主要是认清桩的作用机理，使其不断应用到实践中去，发挥一定的技术和经济效益才是主要的。

工程上所应用到的垂直打如地下的柱状形基础,用来传递并承受上部荷载的柱形结构也可以说定义成桩.请各位老大给个意见!
