Using Vane shear may not be a good way to investigate the marine soil for the swing of the ship due to hydrodynamic. there is a relatively long time to finish vane test, as may disturb the soil severely.
a better way is to conduct marine CPT testing which has been practiced by many offshore geotechinical company. the data collected by this method is more promising than the vane and spt.
