An opportunity exists for an excellent student to study for a PhD degree in the
e0 EJ[bG Department of Civil and Structural Engineering of the The Hong Kong Polytechnic
F4Z0g*^x University under the supervision of Prof. Jin‐Guang Teng. The student may choose to
~=*_I4,+r work in one of the following three areas:
Mq$=z sj (1) Fiber‐reinforced polymer composites in structures
/9Xf[< (2) Steel structures/steel‐concrete composite structures
!I& Sy]G (3) Life‐cycle structural engineering
Pw{ +7b$ Applicants must possess the following qualifications/attributes:
nfB9M1Svn (1) A bachelor degree in civil engineering with academic results being within the
aH~"hB^e top 10% of the class from a reputable university.
j]^]p; An (2) A master degree from a reputable university or completion of the coursework
p(%x&*) f component of a Master degree or PhD degree programme at a reputable
U"Oq85vY university.
:wm^04<i (3) A strong interest in pursuing an academic/research career;
EZV$1pa (4) Competency and interest in both theoretical/numerical and experimental work;

XzsK^E0R (5) A good command of the English language that meets the admission

TH VF@@q The successful applicant will receive a monthly stipend of HK$ 13,800 per month for
