一本好书,刚找到这本书的一个评论,转抄如下“This book, which is edited by two EERI members, is a welcome addition to the growing list of reference books on the broad subject of earthquake engineering. To my knowledge, this is the first reference book on the subject that has devoted two chapters to the conceptual framework and application of performance-based seismic engineering (PBSE) and one chapter to the design of buckling-restrained (commonly referred to as unbonded) braced frames. These three chapters alone make this book worthy of a place on the bookshelf of any forward-looking structural engineer. The list of contributors to this book resembles a ‘‘who’s who’’ list of prominent earthquake engineers and scientists. B#tdLv"I
Earthquake Engineering consists of 19 chapters and an index. Each chapter ends with a comprehensive list of references that a reader looking for more detailed information will find very useful. Practically all chapters contain a list of future challenges, which would benefit graduate students who are thinking about possible research topics. The first 5 chapters for the most part cover topics that structural engineers refer to as geoscience. The next 2 chapters present an analytical background that some of the later chapters rely on. The rest of the chapters are devoted to various topics dealing with structural design for earthquakes. Sue
