PhD Studentship in Structural Engineering
md lMciP An opportunity exists for an excellent student to study for a PhD degree in the
[MF&x9Ss?% Department of Civil and Structural Engineering of the The Hong Kong Polytechnic
GtKSA#oYZB University under the supervision of Prof. Jin‐Guang Teng. The student may choose to
RL*b4 7, work in one of the following three areas:
wM}A WmH (1) Fiber‐reinforced polymer composites in structures
gP>W* ]0r1 (2) Steel structures/steel‐concrete composite structures
lBudC (3) Life‐cycle structural engineering
[rz5tfMp Applicants must possess the following qualifications/attributes:
YUT I)&y (1) A bachelor degree in civil engineering with academic results being within the
/h@3R[k top 10% of the class from a reputable university.
5yjG\ ~ (2) A master degree from a reputable university or completion of the coursework
NHe [,nIV component of a Master degree or PhD degree programme at a reputable
U#{(*)qr university.
Hx n#vAc (3) A strong interest in pursuing an academic/research career;
!t?5U _on (4) Competency and interest in both theoretical/numerical and experimental work;

R: [ #OH.c (5) A good command of the English language that meets the admission

0D0 uzUD- The successful applicant will receive a monthly stipend of HK$ 13,800 per month for
