For drilled shaft, the tip resistance is always neglected because there is some soft material at the bottom of drilled holes.
For driven pile, the tip resistance may be counted for the design if the diamater or cross section area of pile is big. (for H-pile, the cross section is too small).
All these above are talk about the friction pile. The end-bearing pile is the other issue.

if the pile is long enough,the tip resistance is not working, only the friction is working,how the pile works?
