king posts are used to support the struts vertically. it will resist the dead load of strut/runnerbeam, live load on the strut(working load), accidental load(if it needs to be accounted for). It is better to analyze the kingpost together with runnerbeam/struts, taking into account of the eccentricity effects. `YwJ.E
