MONTREAL — A Montreal hospital has dismissed a renowned cardiac aW`Lec{.
researcher over allegations of scientific misconduct, a case that <\pfIJr$
could throw medical studies based on his work into doubt. W^]3XJP

The Montreal Heart Institute revoked Zhiguo Wang's research privileges S7L=#+Z

The hospital says it launched an investigation earlier this summer dK2p7xo
after Wang, who has received millions in federal grants since 1999, 5&q8g;XiEM
alerted the institution that he voluntarily retracted two of his vDxe/x%
articles from scientific journals. ^]a #7/]o

"It's very serious," Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif told a news conference =MLcm^b

Tardif said the primary results and conclusions in the studies are qycI(5S,
still valid, despite the alleged abnormalities in Wang's research. He dOoK Lry
added that most of the findings in the research have been duplicated nC}6B).el
in the works of other scientists. CS=qj-(

Still, he said the hospital had concerns with how images used in the +[tE ^`-F
research were manipulated -- and that it must enforce strict v>-VlQ

Tardif also stressed that Wang, who is not a physician, worked behind sM?MLB\Za
